Trackside – An exciting new magazine for heritage rail

Share

Earlier this year a new magazine was launched aimed at railway preservationists and active enthusiasts, with the strapline, “…written by preservationists, for preservationists”. The first three editions of this new magazine have been full of fantastic articles and news about the heritage rail industry.

The next edition will carry a significant article about the Duke.  In the October edition, the Trackside teaser on the November edition content said, “The ‘Duke’ hasn’t run for nearly a decade, but it is now near the end of a £1m overhaul.  Chairman Trevor Tuckley explains what makes the unique ‘8P’ special – and how his group is preparing for a very different main line future’.

We have secured 20 copies of the November issue (cover below), which will be on sale on 10 October 2021.  Buying a digital copy immediately is easy, but if you would prefer a paper copy, just let me know and for £4.75 (the cover price) I’ll post a copy to you.  I’ll let you know how to pay.  Alternately, you can always check for a copy at your local newsagent.

Even better, you can save money on a twelve-month subscription to TRACKSIDE and raise funds at the same time for 71000. By using a special code when subscribing, the publisher will automatically donate £5 to our funds for each of you that subscribes. Simply go to their website at www.tracksidemag.co.uk and click on Subscribe Here. At the top of the page there is a tab that says, ‘Have a promo code?’. Click on this and enter the code ‘DOG’ and this will take you to a landing page welcoming BR Class 8 Locomotive Trust members. Select the subscription service you require and at the check-out enter your membership number where prompted. Once you have completed the process, you can look forward to twelve issues of Trackside and will have contributed £5 to the Trust. For those of you who prefer not to order over the internet, you can simply call the magazine’s Customer Services dedicated line and give your details over the telephone. The number to call is 01293 312241.

As a guide to the articles in this fantastic new magazine, here is the contents page of Issue 3.

Future editions will include updates of our Support Crew “on the job” stories.  When you get your hands on the magazine, you will feel the quality and probably like me, will keep picking it up again and again to read the different articles.
