Support Coach Appeal

Support Coach Appeal

The support coach owned by the BR Class 8 Steam Locomotive Trust is a Mark 2 Brake First Corridor (BFK) numbered W17041 and is currently at Tyseley Locomotive Works. It was built by BR at Derby works in 1966. A support coach and crew are an essential part of the operation of the Duke when working on the mainline as it carries the crew and the essential tools and equipment.

The support coach is an ex-passenger brake coach and is being internally converted to a workshop/stores/mess room. It is now in need of both an internal and external overhaul with an estimated cost of £40,000. This overhaul is required to be completed at the same time as the Duke’s overhaul.

The Trust is planning to raise the required £40,000 through a sponsorship appeal and we are looking for your help to achieve this. The coach is 64ft long and we are offering sponsorship of each one foot of its length for £500. This would raise £32,000 and if your donation can be Gift Aided, then this would rise to £40,000. The sponsorship can be paid in one lump sum or 10 monthly payments of £50. Please go to the “donate” page on the website or write to us at :- The Duke, Aurora House, Deltic Avenue, Rooksley, Milton Keynes, MK13 8LW.

In thanks to those who generously donate to this appeal we will do the following:

Your name will be inscribed on a Roll of Honour which will be carried in the support coach and you will be entered into a draw for a trip in the support coach on one of the mainline tours. There will be 6 trips available, each on a different tour.
