16 Oct Engineering update: October 2016
Following the boiler being removed in April, major work has continued to strip down the locomotive.
The boiler has been worked on with the firebox throat plate being removed awaiting the manufacture and fitting of a new one, the superheater header and regulator assembly has also been removed. The boiler has been NDT tested and no major shocks were found. A plan of work has now been agreed with Tyseley on future boiler work.

With the boiler removed, the frames can be stripped of items so that the frames can be cleaned and painted. The Caprotti boxes and associated gear have been removed and these have been assessed for future work to be carried out.
The support crew are photographing every item removed and putting the details into a database so that we can clean them we can have them available for refitting to the locomotive.
